James Joseph Keevan

Obituary

James Joseph Keevan, age 69, passed away on February 16, 2018. James was born in Flint Michigan to the late John and Kathryn (Jones) Keevan. He is also preceded in death by his wife Marcia (Hargrave) Keevan.

James is survived by his children Deidre (Bill) Schneider, Joseph (Laura) Keevan, Jacob (Gabriella) Keevan, Aaron (Jessica) Keevan, and Heath Keevan. James will be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren Eva, Lila, Aidan, Elijah, Noah, Marlee, Conner, and Madelyn, by his brother Michael, sister Kathleen (Pascoe), and many other family members and dear friends.

James drove trucks for a little over two decades, and was a member of the Teamsters Union starting in the late 1960's. He safely traversed over 2 million miles of the Continental US. 

In 1990, James changed career paths to become a United States Merchant Marine. He joined the Seafarer's Union and sailed aboard his first ship the USNS Chauvenet as an Able Body Seaman, and was quickly promoted to Bosun. James sailed all Seven Seas, and visited many exotic locations around the world. He retired in 2004 due to medical issues. 

James had a knack for being a fantastic storyteller and was also remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He was an avid reader, poker player, collector of model ships, and loved watching all sports. He will be lovingly remembered and missed dearly by his family and friends.
